Hairdresser finds 2 of 6 missing ballot boxes Two of the six missing ballot boxes that went awry
a week ago have been found by a hairdresser at
Apowa in the Ahanta West constituency of the
Western Region.
They were traced to a location close to the
Electoral Commission’s regional office,
according to local reports from the region.
Meanwhile, the Progressive People’s Party (PPP)
has charged the EC to ensure that all six missing
ballot boxes are found before the December 7
elections.
“The danger is that if it is not found, it will
be utilised by some mischief makers on Election
Day and we start seeing ballot boxes popping up in
various parts of the region and causing
confusion,” PPP Policy Advisor Kofi Asamoah-Siaw
said on Monday, November 28, 2016.
The EC in the Western Region had corroborated
claims by the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP)
that the six ballot boxes meant for December’s
polls cannot be found.
The opposition party had earlier raised the alarm
the boxes, out of some 44 that were being conveyed
from the regional office of the EC to the various
constituencies within the region, had gone missing
while in transit.
The Western Regional Director of the EC, Stephen
Opoku Mensah, confirmed the incident, saying the
boxes had not been stolen but fell off the
Commission’s moving truck. He denied suggestions
of foul play, urging calm. Source - Classfmonline
