NDC members want to kill me – UG Don Dr Isaac Owusu-Mensah, a senior lecturer at the
Political Science Department of the University of
Ghana, has said he has received death threats from
some members of the governing National Democratic
Congress (NDC) after predicting victory for the
main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) and its
flag bearer in this year’s elections, following
research he conducted on the upcoming polls.
Speaking on State of Affairs on GHOne TV with Nana
Aba Anamoah on Monday, 29 November, Dr
Owusu-Mensah said: “I have received death
threats from NDC members.”
Pressed further by Nana Aba Anamoah about how he
knew those death threats were coming from NDC
members, Dr Owusu-Mensah said he had friends and
family members who are part of some social media
platforms created for NDC members only, and, so,
he was aware of all the plots being hatched
against him by his NDC adversaries.
The academic and his team of researchers predicted
that the opposition party would record 49.9%,
while the ruling National Democratic Congress
(NDC), the team said, had an approval rating of
39.9%.
The Progressive People’s Party (PPP), the
research continued, would record five per cent
while the Convention People’s Party (CPP) would
likely receive 1.7 per cent, the National
Democratic Party (NDP) 1.7 per cent, and 0.2 per
cent for Dr Edward Mahama of the PNC.
Three per cent of respondents of the quantitative
and qualitative survey, the researchers said, were
not ready to vote for an independent candidate
while 0.9 per cent of the respondents failed to
give an answer. Source - Classfmonline
