Effutu asks for Nana Addo forgiveness over ‘Simpa Panyin’ The chiefs and people of Effutu have warned
individuals and government officials in particular
to stop “this conduct of feeding Nananom with
false information aimed at gaining political
advantage”.
According to the people of Simpa or Winneba,
checks made revealed that alleged reference to
‘Simpa Panyin’ by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo,
the Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic
Party (NPP), did not happen.
The chiefs had demanded an unqualified apology
from Nana Akufo-Addo over the issue after
considering ‘Simpa Panyin’ derogatory.
Tufuhen of Effutu Neenyi Otubua Sripi II had on
Tuesday alleged that the NPP leader made the
reference to President John Mahama, which they
found derogatory.
But in a press statement on Thursday, Neenyi
Sripi II rendered an unqualified apology to Nana
Akufo-Addo, the NPP and its Member of Parliament
and Candidate, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, “for any
political harm that our earlier public outburst
might have caused”.
Read on the Tufuhen’s behalf by Adontenhen of
Effutu Neenyi Gyete Gyan Kuma II in the presence
of Mr Afenyo-Markin, the statement wished Nana
Akufo-Addo and the NPP well in the upcoming
elections, adding that the people of Winneba have
confidence in him “as a true patriot,
peace-loving and visionary leader who can bring
change to the masses”.
