UFP vice-presidential candidate kicks against party’s support for Mahama The vice-presidential candidate of the United
Front Party (UFP), David Bunya, has kicked against
the party’s decision to throw their weight
behind President John Dramani Mahama and the
governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) in
the December 7 general elections.
According to him, UFP’s support to Mr. Mahama,
as announced by Nana Agyenim Boateng, Leader and
Chairman of the party, is not a collective
decision of the national executives of the party.
He said the decision to support President Mahama
is the sole decision of Nana Agyenim Boateng
because none of party’s national and regional
executives were consulted.
“Since Odike was sacked from the party, Gyataba
(Agyenim Boateng) has not even called for a
meeting. He has been running a one man show. Just
after the disqualification, I called all our
regional executives and told them about Agyenim
Boateng’s decision to support President Mahama
and the NDC and they all became angry why he has
failed to consult them. All the executives are
angry with him because many of them had decided to
support Nana Akufo-Addo,” he noted.
Bunya made this observation in an interaction with
Accra-based Okay FM, Wednesday.
He was responding to Agyenim Boateng’s
declaration of the party’s support to President
John Dramani Mahama.
Boateng responding to Bunya’s accusation on the
same network said “David Bunya does not hold any
position in the UFP. He was an NPP member and we
brought him to the UFP. After the EC disqualified
us, he called to tell me that the NPP has given
him money and so he is living the UFP to join
them. So, when the Supreme Court cleared us, we
went to the EC to change his candidature. We’ve
changed him and he is not a member of the UFP. Our
weight behind John Dramani Mahama is a collective
decision by the party.” Source - Kasapafm
