Political leaders to reaffirm their commitment to peace tomorrow Some National leaders will tomorrow converge at
the University of Ghana to sign a peace pact
against electoral violence in the December polls.
The programme organized under the auspices of the
Institute of Democratic Governance(IDEG), the
National Peace Council and the National House of
Chiefs is expected to bring together flagbearers
of the various political parties among other
stakeholders.
Ahead of the programme scheduled for tomorrow, the
Executive Secretary of the IDEG, Dr. Emmanuel
Akwetey said the move is to get political leaders
to re-affirm their commitment to peace and
stability as the election approaches.
The programme dubbed the second High Level Meeting
(HLM), which comes after the Kumasi HLM of
November 2012, will help chart the way to promote
the adoption of a road map and consensus on
strategic reforms vital to strengthening Ghana’s
democratic stability, peace and unity.
There have been pockets of political violence
soaring in some parts of the country as campaigns
wind down in two weeks to elections.
Meanwhile the International Community have railed
against turmoils brewing in Ghana which are mostly
