We’ll retaliate if provoked by NDC – NPP The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the New Juaben
North constituency has declared that it will fight
back the National Democratic Congress (NDC) if
need be.
This was disclosed by the constituency secretary
of the party, Asante Antwi, at a press conference
on Monday November 21 to address issues concerning
a violent clash between supporters of the two
leading parties on Sunday November 20 at Asokore
in the Eastern Region.
Sunday's clash between supporters of the two
biggest parties several injuries. The clash
happened as supporters of both parties went on
their separate but simultaneous health walks as
part of campaign activities in the lead-up to the
7 December polls.
According to the NPP, "If they (NDC) dare attempt
it again, we shall return with a much forceful,
potent measure. They shall have an overdose of
their own poison."
Mr Antwi said they shall “not fold their arms
unto their laps for plain thugs and assassins
clothed in NDC party colours to make life
difficult for them”, adding: “We shall not
allow them.”
He further entreated the police to arrest and
prosecute the NDC attackers to curtail further
violence.
Meanwhile, the NDC, in a statement, has also
accused the NPP of attacking its members without
provocation.
“This attack is obviously a well-rehearsed one
considering the fact that the police had to
prevent a similar attack on our members by thugs
from the NPP at the Oyoko roundabout earlier this
morning. The NPP continues to deface posters and
destroy billboards of their political
opponents,” Mark-Oliver Kevor, the Eastern
regional secretary of the NDC, said in a
statement.
“The NPP is very much aware of the humiliating
defeat that awaits them as we inch closer to the
December 7 general elections, hence has adopted
this childish and disgraceful tactic just to
intimidate our people and scare them from coming
out in their numbers to vote for President John
Dramani Mahama and our parliamentary candidates on
election day.” Source - c
