You’ve nowhere to hide; answer my 170 economic questions – Bawumia tells Veep
Dr Mahamadu Bawumia, the running mate to the New
Patriotic Party Flag, (NPP) Nana Akufo Addo, has
vowed to continue to hunt Vice President Amissah
Arthur until he answers the 170 economic questions
he (Bawumia) posed to him and President John
Mahama.

According to him, the Mahama-led administration
has messed up the economy leaving Ghanaians in
untold hardship, adding that they need to answer
for their abysmal stewardship over the past years
in office.

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia on September 8, 2016, asked
President Mahama and Vice President Kwesi Ammisah
Arthur to respond to 170 questions after a lecture
on the state of the economy.

The lecture by Dr Mahamudu Bawumia was on the
theme: “The State of the Ghanaian Economy: A
foundation of Concrete or of Straw,” and was
also chaired by former president John Agyekum
Kufuor.

But Vice President Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur vowed
to expose Dr. Mahamud Bawumia, for what he said
were blatant lies the latter had told at the
lecture, and said he intended to do that by
exposing one lie per every venue he has
opportunity to speak henceforth.

Veep Amissah speaking during the 2016 campaign
manifesto launch of the ruling National Democratic
Congress in Sunyani, said nearly every line of Dr.
Bawumia’s lecture address contained a lie.

He said when he first hinted at responding to Dr.
Bawumia’s comments, a former colleague of his at
the University of Ghana called to advise him take
Dr. Bawumia on on a political platform because he
was not engaged in an economics exercise but was
doing politics that needed a political response.

“So I have decided that everywhere we go I’ll
take one of his lies and explain to you why they
are lies. So don’t believe what you read,
because I got a copy of the things he read three
days ago. When I read it, every line there is a
lie there, I can destroy that lie.”

However months down the line, Dr Bawumia insists
the Veep whose last job before becoming the Vice
President was the Governor of the Bank of Ghana
will not be allowed to rest until he answers the
170 questions as he (veep) promised.

Addressing teeming crowd of NPP youth at the
‘Ghana Youth Rally’ held at Moree in the
Central Region, Dr Bawumia who was a deputy
Governor of the Bank of Ghana said: “I hear this
is Vice President Amissah Arthur’s hometown. Is
that the case?…I’ve been looking for him. He
has 170 questions to answer and he has been
running, so tell him I came to his hometown and he
should answer the 170 questions.”

He added: “There’s no where to hide, they have
mismanaged this country and their incompetence and
corruption has resulted in ‘wahala’ for
everybody. So I’m asking all of you to rise up
and let’s change this government together, we
are going to transform this country and all of us
are going to benefit. The future is for the youth
of this country.”
