Odike reveals his desire to be NPP Flagbearer
Presidential nominee for the United Progressive
Party (UPP), Akwasi Addai Odike has hinted his
ambitions of becoming the flagbearer of the New
Patriotic Party (NPP) in the near future.

Mr. Odike, who had earlier withdrawn from the
presidential race, said he has thrown his weight
behind the NPP and its flagbearer to unseat the
John Dramani Mahama led National Democratic
Congress (NDC) administration which he termed
‘incompetent’.

Speaking in an interview with Kapital News,
Thursday [Today, November 10], Mr Odike intimated
that apart from him and the NPP, no other party is
capable and competent enough to unseat the
governing NDC.

According to him, the NPP and the UPP have similar
ideologies and plans when it comes to building the
economy.

“We were of the view that agricultural
mechanization and industrialization is the best
way to go, and Nana Akuffo Addo has over the years
advocated for this so we share in this vision and
when we put our heads together, this vision can be
achieved,” he told Kapital News.

Mr. Odike has high hopes of becoming flagbearer of
the NPP in some time to come. Meanwhile, he would
accept any ministerial position from the NPP if
they (NPP) win power in December.

“I am hoping that I would be flagbearer of the
NPP some time to come.
“We are in the political race to help Ghana
develop at the pace that we are all yearning for.
So if Nana Addo sees me as somebody who can be a
minister to help his administration to be a
success, no problem,” he added.

Meanwhile, Mr. Odike is confident that his party
members would heed to his call and vote for the
NPP come December 7 as they have already assured
him.
