YEA blames registration errors for the delay in payment of some beneficiaries
The Youth Employment Agency is blaming errors
during registration processes by beneficiaries
recruited into various modules under the agency
for the delay in payment of their monthly
allowances.

Some beneficiaries in the Eastern region have been
complaining over non-payment since their
recruitment into the agency some months ago.

However, according to the Eastern Regional
Director of the Agency, Mohammed Pelpuo,
supplementary payments are being facilitated to be
effected to the victims while the errors are being
corrected.

The Eastern Regional Director of YEA, Mr. Mohammed
Pelpuo said this in an interview with Kasapa News
at the sidelines of a presser in Koforidua, the
Eastern regional capital by YEA to brief the media
on feats of the agency.

“The only thing that sort of stalled us was the
payment of beneficiaries which we stopped for a
time to make sure that their particulars were
intact ,because without the particulars there is
no way we will be able to pay the beneficiaries ,
it is so worrying that some of the beneficiaries
did not get it right during the registration or
even opening of their accounts,we have to stop to
correct these errors in order that the
beneficiaries get their monies.we have worked for
sometimes without paying them and that was a worry
to us because some of them did not have the
document corrected and we took time to do all that
and still we are having some of them unpaid but we
are making a supplementary payment to cover all
those that were not captured during recent
payment.”

Meanwhile, the Youth Employment Agencies, YEA, is
to recruit 4,500 unemployed graduates for two
years internship program with both public and
Private Institutions. Its Youth in Paid Interns
Module aim at providing the requisite on- the-job
training experience to propel them for the Job
market. The module would be rolled out in
December, 2016 throughout the country in which
4,500 Unemployed Graduates would be engaged for
the start with monthly allowances.

Mr.Pelpuo explaind that, the module would prepare
graduates to acquire the requisite job experiences
in their field of studies to enable them meet the
demands of employers . He also announced
that, several thousands of youth are going to be
recruited from November to December in trade and
vocation, NVTI ,Youth in Entrepreneurship ,Green
Ghana, and textile production.

The Regional Director mentioned that,a total of
6,501 youth have been recruited into various
modules in the region this year. He explained
that, 554 youth have been recruited into the
Community policing Assistant modules,whiles 241
have been recruited into the Prison services
Assistant module.

The rest are Community Fire prevention assistant
(241), Community Health workers (2347), E-health
workers(200) ,Coastal sanitation assistants(
200),Youth in Arabic (250),Environmental
Protection Assistants (290) ,6 in Marine
Technician and 2172 Youth recruited community
Teaching Assistant.

Mr. Pelpuo stated that, the YEA unlike the previous
Youth Employment program ,is established under the
Youth Employment Act 2015 (Act 887) to empower
the youth contribute to the Socio-economic and
sustainable development of the country.
