We are sorry - Awutu Senya Chiefs to George Andah
Chiefs and elders of Senya Bereku in the Central
region have rendered an unqualified apology to the
New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate,
George Ansah for chastising him over his ‘show
your husband’ comment.

According to spokesperson of the chiefs, Nai Kojo
Omanor they failed to do due diligence before
coming out to condemn the NPP candidate.

George Andah came under a barrage of attacks
following his challenge to the National Democratic
Congress (NDC) candidate, Hanna Tetteh to campaign
with her husband.

The marketing guru at a mini rally in Bawjiase
showed his wife to constituents and dared the
incumbent MP to also do same.

"I told you I will come with my wife and children
and I came here with my wife and children, go and
tell Hanna Tetteh that she should also do same,
she should come and show her husband to you,” he
said.

His comment was deemed sexist which triggered a
demonstration by some women in the Awutu Senya
constituency. They vowed to curse George Andah if
he does not apologise to Hanna Tetteh – a plea
he has vehemently rejected.

But the chief in an exclusive interview with Adom
News’ Kofi Adjei said they erred in their
judgement of the case.

He said after careful scrutiny and investigations,
they realized the camp of the incumbent MP who is
also the Foreign Minister threw the first salvo.
“We are sorry for taking one side; we should
listened to George Andah before condemning him. We
are really sorry’ he stated.

The spokesperson who is also the chief of Akwasah
bemoaned the politics of insult which is gradually
creeping into the local politics in the area.

This, he said if not nib in the bud could
degenerate ahead of the December 7 general
elections.

On the way forward, the chief said they are
contemplating closing down the only information
centre in the town to prevent a recur.

Nai Kojo Omanor therefore called on the
parliamentary candidates to call their supporters
to order for a violent free elections.
