TMA accounts to the people
The money was made up of transfers from central
government, donor agencies and internally
generated funds.

However, within the same period, the Assembly
incurred an expenditure of GH¢33.14 million.

It spent GH¢5.62 million on education, GH¢1.17
million on health, GH¢7.03 million on sanitation,
GH¢2.13 million on road and GH¢14.45 million on
administration, among other sectors.

The Metropolitan Chief Executive of Tema, Isaac A.
Odamtten, disclosed this on Tuesday at the 3rd
ordinary general meeting of the Assembly.

The meeting sought to inform the Assembly about
the extent of work done and to solicit feedback
that would help strategise for the future.

Mr. Odamtten said that the Assembly registered 504
elderly people aged 65 years and above under the
EBAN elderly card which is expected to give them
access to free social protection interventions.

He said 1,588 women drawn from 35 women groups
were trained in various local economic development
programmes, 63 others in two communities were
assisted to undertake self help activities, while
48 women were assisted to acquire loans.

Mr. Odamtten added that the livelihoods of 409
beneficiaries of LEAP had been improved, while
community sensitisation of new enrolment of LEAP
beneficiaries in seven communities in Tema New
Town enclave was ongoing.

According to him the Assembly in line with its
objective to end the shift system had built six
schools including three two storey blocks.

He said the TMA as part of its street naming
programme mounted 200 signages and 4,000 property
numbers and digitised 80 per cent of all
properties.

Mr. Odamtten noted that the Assembly had
constructed or rehabilitated toilets in 35 out of
50 schools earmarked, while 53 household toilets
had been constructed in Tema Newtown, Adjei Kojo,
Sakumono village, Lashibi and Klagon.

He said sewerage network for the Bankuman
communities had been designed for construction.
