Stop paying monies to unscrupulous persons for Asantehemaa’s burial-Manhyia The Manhyia Palace has issued a disclaimer on
unscrupulous persons collecting monies from
unsuspecting market women and traders in the
Kumasi metropolis for the burial preparations of
the late Asantehemaa Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem
II.
The Palace said it has received complaints from
residents that some dubious people are going round
the various market centers and homes collecting
unspecified monies on behalf of the palace.
But it dispelled allegations that it has
instructed people to collect money ahead of the
burial of the queen mother calling on residents to
discard the move and report crooks to the police
for appropriate sanctions to be meted out.
It also called on the public to discard rumour
that it has instructed traders to close their
shops.
The one week observation of the passing of the
thirteenth Queen mother of the Asante Kingdom is
currently underway at the palace.
The Asantehemaa who died on November 14, 2016 aged
111.
Actors, chiefs, Members of Parliament (MPs),
presidential nominees and other people from all
walks of life have gathered at the palace to
commiserate with the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu
II.
Meanwhile, about 200 police personnel both armed
and unarmed have been deployed to the funeral
grounds.
