4 File To Contest As National House of Chiefs President
Four paramount chiefs have filed their nominations
to contest the position of the President of the
National House of Chiefs (NHC).

The house has begun a search for a new president
as the term of its current leader, Wulugu Naba
Pugansoa, Naa Prof. John S. Nabila, has come to an
end.

The candidates contesting the election, scheduled
for Thursday November 24, include the Omanhene of
Essikado traditional area in the Western Region,
Nana Prof. Kobina Nketsia V, the Okyehene, Amoatia
Ofori Panin, Togbe Afede XIV, Agbogbomefia of the
Asogli State and Awulae Attibrukusu III, Vice
President of the NHC.

About 50 paramount chiefs from the 10 regions in
the country would cast their votes to elect a new
leader.

Sources close to the Registry of NHC disclosed
this The Ghanaian Times yesterday here.

Meanwhile, Nana Kobina Nketsia, on Friday,
submitted his forms at the registry of the
National House of Chiefs in Kumasi, to contest the
election.

He is a former Professor of history of the
University of Cape Coast.

The President and the Vice President of the
Western Regional House of Chiefs have thrown their
support for the candidature of the Paramount Chief
of Essikado, who holds a degree in history from
the University of Ghana and PhD in African History
at the University of Calabar in Nigeria.

Dr. Okatakyie Amenfi VII, former Vice President of
the Central Regional House of Chiefs and member of
the National House of Chiefs has also endorsed the
candidature of Nana Prof. Nketsia.

Nana Nketsia is currently the Chairman of the Nana
Kobina Nketsia IV Trust, Robert Mitchell
Foundation and serves on the Advisory Board of
Care Ghana.
