Abudus not totally Ya Na killers – Rawlings denies story Former President Jerry John Rawlings has denied
absolving his successor of guilt in the murder of
the late Ya Na Yakubu II, pointing out that he
rather said “the Abudus may not have been
totally responsible for the murder.”
The former President’s denial was contained in a
rejoinder to a story carried by DAILY GUIDE in
which he reportedly absolved both his successor
and the Abudus.
He described the said story as “crafty and
dubious creation of DAILY GUIDE carefully
calculated for selfish political effect.”
He stated that “there was official complicity in
the matter of the demise of the Ya Na, hence the
superficial investigations into the issue.”
He said that he has never wavered in his position
about the fate of the late Dagbon Overlord.
The former President entreated the public to
disregard the said story, noting that he has in
his possession a recording of his address during
the funeral of the Kwahuhene.
During his visit to Abene Kwahu on Wednesday,
December 10, 2014 to bid farewell to the late
Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng, President Rawlings said
he spoke on diverse issues including the lack of
just and conclusive investigations into the death
of the Ya Na.
He expressed disquiet over how the New Patriotic
Party (NPP) under President Kufuor did little to
unmask the killers and criticized Presidents Mills
and Mahama for their inaction in bringing a just
conclusion to the matter.
He subsequently indicated that because
investigations so far have been inconclusive, the
culprits have gone free while an impression has
been created that some Abudus may have totally
been responsible Source - Daily Guide
