Reggie Rockstone: no wonder he is Rock and a Stone Although Reginald Osei, the Godfather of Hiplife
has managed to hoodwink people about his real age,
it is widely known that April 11 is his earth day
however a safe bet would be that he was born in
the late 60's.
The rapper of Ghanaian descent, born in United
Kingdom pioneered the Hip-Life movement in 1994.
There is little doubt that he has played an
important role in the development of this uniquely
African genre.
Winning the Kora Award for the best African Video
in 2004, mounting the same stage with global icons
like Shaggy, Beenie Man, being a judge on reality
shows, having a book launched chronicling his
musical journey, mentoring young rappers and
owning a restaurant bears testimony to his gift
and staying power.
It came out of the blue but the Godfather is the
newest member of the hiplife music group, VIP now
VVIP. Their first single 'Selfie' was released on
April 11, already another single OMG is out
indicating that the Godfather is only readying
himself for more hard work.
The interesting thing about Reggie is that for a
man in the region of 46, his impressive physique
belies decades he has collected under the sun, a
feat young ‘cats’ find difficult to emulate.
We celebrate you Reggie for investing time and
energy not only in your music but your
‘Rock-Stone’ body as well, and it appears your
son has already taken after you with his morning
push-ups. Cheers to you the godfather!
