Sammy Forson & Sarkodie DJs & Presenters make artistes big The springing up of big stars, who make it big in
the music industry, have been attributed to the
roles of DJs and Radio/TV presenters.
Some artistes who have had the privilege of DJs
and Presenters hipping their musical content and
career, include Sakordie with help from Sammy
Forson of Yfm; No Tribe with Kwasi Aboagye of
Peace FM, Blakk Rasta with Hitz FM; Ruff and
Smooth with Bola Ray of JoyFM; Joey B with Jessica
Sarforo of Citi FM, and Akwaboah with Flexy of Yfm
have one way or the other promoted artistes in the
industry.
Blakk Rasta and Sammy Forson are guilty of
promoting their own songs and that of their
artistes.
It has been confirmed that the management of Yfm
has written a letter of caution to Sammy Forson,
an employee of the radio station, for his
consistent promotion of one particular artiste, in
the person of Sarkodie.
On the part of Blakk Rasta, he has always argued
that he plays his own music, but also gives the
opportunity to other musicians in the industry, by
promoting their songs.
It can be said that industry players and critics
of the music industry, whiles awaiting the
nomination list of this year’s Vodafone Ghana
Music Awards (VGMA), have reminded DJs and
Presenters that they would not be allowed to
impose songs which do not merit to be awarded on
the public, just for the fact that they have had a
popular air play from some radio stations.
It has become a canker, menace and evil on a few
of the radio stations, while presenters and DJs
manipulate or impose their own artiste’s songs
on the listening pleasure of Ghanaians.
In spite of the consistent campaign of kicking out
the practice of corruption in the music industry,
“Payola” has contributed to the current trend,
whiles DJs and presenters are being employed by
musicians as producers to push their products on
their platform, preventing the listening public
from having the best of musical content for the
consumption of Ghanaians. Source - Ghanamusic
