DJ Champagne to face off DJ Black @ Ghana DJ Awards
The organisers of the Ghana DJ Awards slated for
February 22 at the National Theatre of Ghana have
announced that this year’s edition will bring
together best disc jockeys (DJs) from Nigeria,
South Africa and UK who will compete against each
other on one stage.

The organisers of the awards, Merqury Republic
Events, are stopping at nothing to ensure they
deliver a one-of-a-kind concert. The awards is
being organised solely to honour of the
country’s most hardworking and dedicated disc
jockeys (DJs) who promote Ghanaian culture through
music.

The Chief Executive Officer of Merqury Republic
Events, Merqury Quaye explained that this year the
organisers have extended invitations to
international stars like DJ Jimmy Jatt from
Nigeria, award-winning lady DJ, Diva Lash from
South Africa and Tim Westwood from UK to perform
at the event.

He disclosed that some of the local DJs and
artistes who will perform at the event include DJ
Black, DJ Mensah, DJ Champagne, DJ Mike Smith and
a host of others. Ghanaian artistes billed to
perform include VIP, Shatta Wale, Miss Vee,
Stonebwoy and Gasmilla.

Meanwhile, two popular radio stations in Accra
with the finest presenters and Disc Jockeys (DJs)
will face it off at the Ghana DJ Awards. YFM’s
DJ Champagne and Joy FM’s DJ Black are in a
fierce competition in the biggest category of the
Ghana DJ Awards—Best DJ of the Year. Star
presenter and DJ of YFM, Sammy Forson will battle
it out with DJ Black in two other significant
categories—Best Male Radio DJ of the Year and
Best Music Promoter of the Year.

Jay Foley, station manager of YFM, in an exclusive
interview, was happy the station had again been
nominated in this year’s edition of the Ghana DJ
Awards, saying, “We are very pleased to gain
another set of nominations this year after
receiving three accolades in the Ghana DJ Awards
last year.

He stressed that over the past years, YFM DJs and
presenters have been nominated and given several
awards at different prestigious award ceremonies
in Ghana, including the Ghana DJ Awards.

He concluded by congratulating all DJs and
presenters who have been nominated in the various
categories of the Ghana DJ Awards.
