Nana Ekua Amoah aka Mzbel

Mzbel rapist dead
Ebenezer Obese, the 35-year-old leader of a gang
that raped and robbed popular Ghanaian musician
Mzbel, has been confirmed dead.

According to a police report, the body of Obese
was dumped at the Police Hospital morgue by a lady
believed to be his girlfriend, after which she
bolted.

Recounting the deceased’s robbery escapades to
the media, the Accra Regional Police Crime
Officer, Chief Superintendent Frank Adufati said
Obese, on September 2006, attacked Nana Ekua Amoah
aka Mzbel and her girls at their New Gbawe
residence, after robbing them of various sums of
money and items including two DVD players, a CD
and cassette player, a digital video camera, an
Ephson laptop, jewellery, clothes and five mobile
phones.

The deceased again led the same gang to attack a
filling station in 2007, but luck eluded him when
police grabbed him in the process.

The deceased was later released after spending
months on remand by a High Court in 2013.

Upon his release, the suspect again formed another
gang that snatched a number of cars from their
owners. Some of the cars sold by the deceased were
later retrieved and given back to their owners.

Until his death, Obese was declared wanted by the
police for a number of car snatching cases.

On Monday January 6, 2014, according to Chief
Superintendent Adufati, the police had information
that Obese was on admission at the Ashongman
Community Clinic.

When police proceeded to the health facility, they
were told the deceased had been referred to the
Ridge Hospital.

Later, around 5:30pm, police again received
information that the body of Obese had been
brought to the Police Hospital morgue for
preservation.

According to information gathered by the police, a
lady who only gave her name as Agartha, after
presenting the body to the mortuary attendants,
asked permission to attend nature’s call but
never returned.

Efforts are being made by the police to contact
the family of the deceased, so they would pick up
the body.
