Yvonne Okoro, Jackie Appiah and Yvonne Nelson

Who wins 2013 Ghana’s Best Actress?
The fourth edition of the Ghana Movie Awards will
come off tonight at a glamorous red carpet
ceremony scheduled for the Accra International
Conference Centre.

The queens and princes of Ghana’s movie industry
will be the centre of attraction as their talents
are celebrated.

The Ghana Movie Awards is aimed at honouring
excellence in the movie industry.

Higher expectations await the event tonight, as
people are wondering who will win which award and
which movie will dominate the awards night?

The most anticipated categories include Best
Picture, Best Actor and Actress In Leading Role,
which have often made the headlines in the past.
Interestingly, there is very tight competition in
each of these categories.

Most talked about movies in 2013 like
‘Contract’, ‘Northern Affair’, ‘House Of
Gold’, ‘One Night In Vegas’, ‘Hunters’,
‘Number One Fan’, ‘Purple Rose’, ‘The
Pledge’, ‘Finding Mercy’ and ‘Okomfo
Anokye’ have all made it to the Best Picture
category.

The Best Actor In Lead Role category also had top
actors John Dumelo for ‘Northern Affair’,
Kofi Adu (Agya Koo)- ‘Okomfo Anokye’, Adjetey
Anang- ‘The Hunters’, James Gardiner-
‘Nkuli’ and Majid Michel- ‘The Price’,
competing.

The Best Actress category is being described as a
“clash of the titans” category, as actresses
Yvonne Okoro, Yvonne Nelson, and Jackie Appiah are
once again competing.

Jackie Appiah was nominated for her performance in
Frank Rajah directed ‘Cheaters’ while Yvonne
Okoro was named for ‘Contract’, a film she
produced. Maame Serwaa also made it into the
category with her performance in ‘School Girl’
while Yvonne Nelson was nominated for ‘The
Price’ and Sonia Ibrahim for ‘Number One
Fan’.

Is it going to be Yvonne Okoro, Yvonne Nelson or
Jackie Appiah? Could it be Sonia Ibrahim or Maame
Serwaa?

Each of the actresses has had a history with the
award ceremony except Sonia and Maame who could
also pull a surprise.
