Amakye Dede calls for peace ahead of Supreme Court judgment Ghana's reigning highlife musician, Daniel Amakye
Dede, who has carved a niche for himself yesterday
called on Ghanaians to desist from any act that
seeks undermine the peace the country has enjoyed
since independence.
In his quest to support peace in the country ahead
of the Supreme Court ruling on the election
petition filed by the New Patriotic Party (NPP),
Abrantie Amakye Dede has released a peace and
unity song titled 'Democracy' to help solidify his
peace message and campaign.
In the song which featured Okyeame Kwame, the
evergreen highlife musician said in the there was
the need to promote democratic governance and rule
of law which should be a guiding principle to
prevent anybody from taking the law into their own
hands regardless of the circumstances.
He urged those seeking leadership positions to
understand that they could turn to be losers if
they preached violence and negativities that had
the potential of undermining and destroying the
country.
Abrantie Amakye Dede told BEATWAVES in an
interview that as a musician he decided to use
music to encourage young people to support peace
and to refrain from acts of violence after the
Supreme Court judgment.
The award winning musician whose music has gone
down well with music lovers in Ghana and beyond,
stressed it was necessary to purge the minds of
the youth of what he described as utterances that
will encourage them to do things to destroy the
peace the country is enjoying.
He noted that Ghanaians cherish peace and
tranquillity; therefore there is the need for
tolerance and understanding of each other to
create an enabling environment for social
