Olivia's kitchen serves up Ghaanaian food in California Olivia Laryea is pretty sure of one thing - she is
probably the only vendor of 'fufu' on the streets
of downtown Oceanside, California or anywhere
north of San Diego.
Layrea sells cuisine of her native Ghana at
Thrusday night Sunset Market. Her booth on Pier
View Way is a busy one with as many as four or
five customers lined up at a time.
She has been cooking professionally for 6 years
and has offered her food at the market for 5
months. She has lived in the US for 21 years.
Her customers are fellow Ghanaians, Afro-Americans
and Anglo-Americans. Some trying out the food for
the first time. She dishes up combination plates
of rice, peas and greens and/or goat meat.
A fellow Ghanaian - Acljei proclaimed the food as
real authentic. She liked the 'shito' and
'sambussas' Source - Ocenside downtown connection
