VIP to kick start Vision Tour in the US
Music trio, VIP, has disclosed it will kick start
a much anticipated world tour, dubbed the Vision
Tour, in the US on March 10.

The trio - Addul Hamidu Ibrahim (Lazzy), Emmanuel
Ababio (Promzy) and Joseph Nana Ofori (Prodigal) -
has over the years remained one of the country’s
finest music groups. They were crowned with the
Artiste of the Year award at the 12th edition of
the Ghana Music Awards festival held on Saturday,
April 9, 2011 at the Dome of the Accra
International Conference Centre.

The tour will start in New York and it will see
the group together with their Boogie Down Nima
label mates, FOI, and other yet to be named
artistes performing for their fans.

The New York show will be followed by similar
concerts in Chicago, Atlanta, Boston, Los Angeles
and other big cities and venues in the US. The
trio is expected to be in the US till the end of
March.

After the US tour, VIP will head to Canada, and
then to London and some other parts of Europe
before performing in some selected African
countries. They will end the world tour in Ghana
with a nationwide tour.

Prodigal told Myjoyonline.com in an interview that
the rationale behind the world tour is to enable
the group touch base with their fans, who have
been very supportive of them across the world.

“Giving back to our fans and also afford us the
opportunity of getting close to them worldwide. We
will be promoting our new joint, 7-11, to the
world market,” adding, they will also use the
tour to spread word of hiplife music to the
world.

VIP emerged on the Ghanaian music scene in the
late 1990s during the genesis of hiplife music.
From an original group of four and now three, they
have grown from strength to strength releasing a
total of seven albums in the period. Their latest
– seventh - 7/11 was released in 2011.
