Ghanaian celebrities’ New Year resolutions It’s a New Year and your authoritative and
comprehensive Entertainment News medium,
Myjoyonline.com caught up with some of your
favourite celebrities to find out how 2011 was for
them and also their expectations for the 2012.
D-Black known in real life as Desmond Kwesi
Blackmore told Myjoyonline.com that 2011 was a
successful year for him.
Enumerating what made 2011 successful, he
recounted the “Channel O nomination, winning the
first ever Hiphop Song of the Year Award at the
Ghana Music Awards, nominated as Best African Act
at the BET Awards, in L.A., [as well as]
successfully touring and holding concerts in all
the regions of Ghana.”
“I released the first single of my upcoming
album, My Kinda Girl featuring Sarkodie and an
animation to go with it … for an English rapper
in Ghana, ma ye ade to wit I have done well. I
thank God.”
Whiles he prays for peaceful elections this year,
he promised his fans “new songs, new videos, a
new album spearheading much needed innovation in
the Ghanaian entertainment industry. A different
level of music and above all a positive message to
the people – Trust God, He answers all
prayer.”
Leader of music trio, 4x4, Captain Planet also
told Myjoyonline.com that, 2011 was a very
successful year for the group.
According to him, “We (4x4) released three
singles [and] all became hits, won awards, had a
big street album launch concert, played at almost
every big show in Ghana. We also played with the
maestro Kojo Antwi.”
Captain Planet however said, the year was not all
that rosy for the group; “More challenges but
the good things have over shadowed them.”
On behalf of the group, he urged fans to expect
bigger things from the group this year. “More
hits, more awards, more music, more
opportunities…”
Chemphe on the other hand said, “2011 was one of
my good years … I was recognized across the
world. I performed in different countries around
the world including the Global Festival in Norway
which I was contracted to write the theme song for
the festival, plus I launched my album across
Europe.”
He admitted that, “there was always a challenge
but in all it turned out positive. It was a good
year also releasing Number 1 which is doing well
across Africa.” He promised his fans more
surprises this year.
Promising 2012
Ama K. Abebrese
Nana Kwaku Duah popularly know as Tic Tac also
told Myjoyonline.com that, “2011 was the
beginning of good things to come this year… It
was a successful year but not to my satisfaction.
I need to do better this year hopefully.”
According to him, he would have loved to see his
fans enjoy the Christmas with a Tic Tac album but
“could not release the much anticipated album
before time so I hope to do that this year.” His
prayer for this year is to stay alive with good
health and a peaceful mother Ghana.
Born Frank Elinam Cobbinah, Atumpan of The Thing
fame said, “the mere fact that it was in 2011
that I was able to enter the industry, it was a
successful year.” After the release of the
controversial single, The Thing, Atumpan went
ahead to collaborate with Angolan sensation, Cabo
Snoop to release Moyerh Africana and later Sisi
Muden with Stay Jay.
Atumpan’s New Year Resolution is, “to double
up every good thing I did in 2011 and draw myself
much more closer to God.”
Actress Ama K. Abebrese also said, “It was a
great year for me, starring in my first feature
film playing the lead role in Sinking Sands, then
going on to win Best Actress at the African Movie
Academy Awards (AMAA).”
She was of the view that, in life, “nothing is
ever rosy, but you get on with it and do what
you’ve got to do. I try to count my blessings in
all situations.”
While praying for more success this year, Ama K,
as she is affectionately known, added that, “I
just want to continue working hard and achieving
my goals that I set for myself. I’m continuing
the journey with God by my side.”
Joshua Ampah, member of the duo Keche told
Myjoyonline.com that, “thanks to God that in
2011, our (Keche) song, Sokode, was one of the
hits and it was a great year for us because we
started with strong competition from other
artistes.”
The duo promise “more hits because our fan base
is getting bigger now so we need to work hard and
make sure our new songs are better than Sokode and
Pressure.” They however disclosed that, they
will be releasing singles which will be followed
by an album this year.
Actress Nana Ama McBrown simply said, 2011 was
“about 80 percent successful,” adding,
although she had “personal life issues, most of
