Hon Samuel Atta Akyea I’ve no hand in Okyehene’s case - Atta Akyea The NPP Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South,
Samuel Atta Akyea, has distanced himself from
accusations leveled against the Okyehene Osagyefo
Amoatia Ofori Panyin II for allegedly condoning
illegal mining in the Akyem State.
He stated that it would be erroneous and totally
misguided for anyone to try and accuse him of
being behind the recent happenings in the Akyem
State.
The NPP firebrand was attacked by some men
suspected to be coming from the Okyehene’s
Palace on Saturday. Yaw Bampo, who is the Abuakwa
South Constituency secretary, alleged that the
attackers accused the MP of fuelling allegations
against the Okyehene.
However, speaking on the Citi Eyewitness News on
Monday, Mr. Akyea stated that the allegations
against the Okyehene are unfortunate and stated
categorically that he has been wrongly accused.
“I regret the incident. ..but I can assure you
that I am not behind what is going on,” he said.
“The first thing you should bear in mind is that
I am a royal too and I owe my allegiance to the
Ofori Panyin’s stool.”
The MP added: “I don’t know why some people
have an interest in bringing me to this matter but
I can assure you that I believe strongly nobody
must defame the stool.”
Mr Akyea also confirmed that a vehicle in front of
his was attacked over the weekend but managed to
escape unhurt from the angry youth.
According to him, the accusation against him that
he is behind a plot to bring the Okyehene down is
a deliberate attempt to malign him. Source - Citifmonline
