Okyehene Amoatia Ofori Panyin II, accused of complicity in galamsey operations in Eastern Region
Okyehene accusation "grave and disrespectful" The Akyem Abuakwa State has condemned Odehyee Kyei
Boateng for accusing the Okyehene of condoning
galamsey operations in Kyebi.
Odehyee Boateng who claims to be a cousin to the
Okyehene Amoatia Ofori Panyin II, was invited for
questioning at the Okyeman palace in relation to
his allegations.
According to the traditional council and some
eyewitnesses, Odehyee Boateng arrived at the
palace with a mob to perform some rituals and
dared the Okyehene to swear before the deity to
prove his innocence in the allegation.
According to reports, supporters of the Okyehene
clashed with Kyei Boateng’s supporters who
stopped him from going ahead with his intentions.
Mr. Ampofo Duodo, secretary to the Akyem Abuakwa
State in an interview with Citi News said the
implications of Tuesday’s occurrence in Kyebi
are “grave and disgraceful”.
“It is only one person who has the traditional
mandate to slaughter a sacrificial sheep. If you
have a sheep in offer you bring it to the Palace
and then the linguist or elders would lead you to
the area where sheep are normally sacrificed.
“It is only the Nkoyaatoafohene who can
slaughter a sheep, no other person can do that so
how come a commoner take upon himself to come and
slaughter a sheep, you can’t do that,” Mr.
Duodo said. Source - Citifmonline
