Okyeman Council summons Okyehene’s accuser The Okyeman Traditional Council has summoned the
outspoken member of the Asona royal family of
Kyebi, Odehye Nana Adjei Boateng, to substantiate
his allegations against the Okyehene, Osagyefo
Amoatia Ofori Panyin II.
Some members of the Asona royal family led by
Odehye Boateng last week accused the Okyehene of
consenting to some illegal mining activities being
carried out behind one of his royal houses.
Odehye Boateng has come under fire for his
comments against the respected king and would be
required to buttress his allegations with hardcore
evidence. His royalty status has also been
questioned.
His nephew, Nana Boakye Yiadom, has told Citi News
those allegations are baseless. He said the
Traditional Council has no right to summon his
uncle because they are mere servants in the
palace.
According to Nana Yiadom, “he is a royal and the
person who is saying that my uncle is not a royal
should come and show us the reason why he’s not
a royal. ”
“We’d be going to the palace today [Tuesday],
we know our tradition and if we do something and
it is not good, we know what we have to do,” he
added.
“All the sub chiefs under the Okyehene cannot
call us and tell us to dare them and they would
tell us whatever they like. They are in the house
as maid servants and they don’t have any right
to call [us] the royals. ” Source - Citifmonline
