Nii Tackie Tawiah II The enstoolment of a new Ga Mantse is disgraceful - Nii Okaidja III The acting Adonte-hene of the Ga State, Nii
Okaidja III who is also the Gbese Mantse has
described as disgraceful the reported enstoolment
of a new Ga Mantse under the stool name Nii Tackie
Adama Latse II.
The enstoolment which took place on Sunday June
12, was led by the embattled Gbese mantse, Nii
Ayibonte II with the support of some king markers
in the Ga state.
George Tackie who is a London based business man
hails from one of the Royal Houses within the Ga
state.
Gbese Mantse Nii Ayibonte II had threatened to
enstool a new Ga Manste before the year ends,
alleging, Nii Tackie Tawiah II was enstooled by
the previous Kufuor administration.
But the acting Adonte-hene of the Ga State, Nii
Okaidja III, condemns the development in an
interview with Citi news.
He said “it is big shame, everyone knows that
when you are going to enstool a chief, you must
make sure that the stool is vacant, that is the
first thing.
"Secondly if the stool is not vacant, then there
is a law under the chieftaincy act section 40. It
gives a provision where you can use that provision
to destool the chief who is there.
"That way you bring about legality, you bring
about the rule of law. The Ga Mantse has been on
the stool for five years, the Ga Mantse himself
has got a judgment dated the 18th of July 2008.
"The judgment says that the Ga Mantse can continue
to be the Ga Mantse, he can continue to act or
function as the Ga Mantse.
"What they have done therefore means that they are
in contempt of that judgement”.
